By-laws

  1. Globe Award is an international award that recognises and encourages cities and companies which have excelled in the area of sustainability, with the aim of fostering sustainable development in society.
  2. The organiser of the contest is Globe Forum, located in Sweden. Responsible Business Forum (Forum Odpowiedzialnego Biznesu) is the co-organiser and the partner of the Polish Edition.
  3. The categories in the polish edition of Globe Award are: Sustainable City and Sustainable Innovation.
  4. The following subjects are allowed to take part in the Globe Award Polish Edition:
    • within the Sustainable City category– all polish cities
    • within the Sustainable Innovation category – companies operating in Poland, regardless of their size (including Polish departments of international corporations), hereinafter called "organizations".
  5. The innovation must be implemented in Poland in order to qualify for the contest.
  6. Application is a filled form, available at www.globeaward.org/polish-edition, and sent to award@fob.org.pl. Attachments not exceeding 5MB and/or 10 pages may be enclosed to the application.
  7. Applications can be sent in between 6th July and 25th September inclusive.
  8. Applications sent after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.
  9. All applications will be assessed by five person jury, different for each category. One jury will assess applications within Sustainable City category, and the other one will assess applications within Sustainable Innovation category.
  10. The final composition of the jury will be known by July 3rd.
  11. Jury will announce a list of minimum 5 and maximum 10 nominees by October 5th. The nominees’ list will be available at www.globeaward.org/polish-edition. The nominees will also be informed by phone or/and via e-mail.
  12. The announcement of the Globe Award Polish Edition 2009 winners and laureates, selected by the jury within each of two categories, will take place at Globe Forum Poland conference in Gdańsk, between 28th – 29th October 2009.
  13. The winners of the Polish Edition 2009 will become automatically nominated for the Globe Award.
  14. The organizations which will fail to win the Globe Award Polish Edition can still participate in the global edition, however they must take part in the whole application process again.
  15. One winner will be chosen within each category (Sustainable City and Sustainable Development).
  16. All organizations nominated for the second stage of the Globe Award Polish Edition, as well as the winners, will be informed via e-mail and/or by phone.
  17. The decision of the jury cannot be brought under appeal.
  18. The applicants take the responsibility for the application content, including the authenticity of data.
  19. Participation in the contest is free of charge.
  20. Jury of the contest is obligated to keep the contest’s results in secret until official announcement, except informing the winners and inviting them into the final gala.
  21. Organizations participating in Globe Award – Polish Edition agree to publish and process information included in the application form.
  22. Organizations participating in the contest agree to use the data included in the application by the Globe Award Research Programme at Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. To find out more about the Programme visit www.globeaward.org/research-program.
